Yesterday afternoon, Autumn and I met my parents up at a store in Millcreek. As excited as she was to see Grandma and Papa, as soon as they arrived, she didn't want to leave my side. She cried unless I was holding her. Then, a few minutes later, she calmed down when Grandma offered to take her outside.
Although she loves Grandma and Grandpa, I think her attachment to me has to do a lot with the fact that they babysat her for a week when Keith and I went to New York City. She thinks every time they come up that we're going to leave. Once she's assured we're staying, all is fine.
Heck, even if we don't stay, all is fine. The last time they watched her for an afternoon, she fussed when we initially left. But she was fine while we were gone and was buddies with Grandma and Papa. And when they left, she cried and cried for them. She even tried to climb in their car. Yesterday, after the initial 'let's hang onto Mommy,' she called out for my Mom and made sure Grandma got in the car with us.
It's funny to see how she reacts. And to me, I can easily see that her little toddler logic leads her to think Mommy and Daddy must be leaving her for a bit if Grandma and Papa are there. It also makes me think we need to spend more time where all four of us are present with her at the same time.
