A while back I received a magnet from Graco that I kept just because the concept was pretty neat. It has a little outlined box that says "Today I am..." and you can move the box around to eight different squares. You can say Today I am ...
a chef
a judge
a teacher
a doctor
a chauffeur
a banker
an event planner
a housekeeper
Any parent can probably count several different professions they go through in a day. Even if you aren't a parent, you can probably relate, thinking of the roles your life requires of you all day long. Think of you who are today...
Today I doctor, checking Autumn's head after she tripped over a shoe in our garage. Then I was a chauffeur, taking Autumn to school. On the way there, I was a teacher, counting to 10 and singing ABCs. After I left her at school, I came to work to be a journalist. Later I'll be a chauffeur again. Then a chef. I played banker yesterday, so I probably won't have any checks to write today. But I'll be a teacher again, singing, reciting or reading. I may even be a housekeeper as I prepare for houseguests due to Keith and Autumn's birthdays the next two weekends. Along with the birthdays, I will be an event planner, planning their parties. I'll be a crafter, knitting scarf. I'll be a student as I try to learn more myself. I'll probably be an arbitrator as I try to reason with Autumn about something.
Then I'll go to bed and tomorrow I'll wake up and do it all over again.
