Apparently Michael Vick won't be spotted on interstate off ramps holding a cardboard "Will Work" sign, after all. Sports Illustrated's Peter King is reporting that the disgraced Falcons quarterback is being courted by the start-up United Football League once Vick's prison terms ends as expected next July.
-- In other banned-player news, Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones is awaiting word from the league on his request to be reinstated. Jones says his pledge to donate uniforms to Dallas-area school children is among "things that I have been doing besides staying out of trouble."
-- The NFL's plans to make a splash by moving eight Bills games to Toronto over the next five seasons didn't exactly get off to a stunning debut Thursday. One fan at Rogers Centre said the atmosphere during the Bills' 24-21 victory over the Steelers felt "just kind of empty. It's got that (Rogers Centre) feel of the Blue Jays in the middle of the summer."
