Steelers 13, Ravens 7
14:40: Roethlisberger to Ward for minus-1 yard. They're both warm now.
13:58: In one of the more clutch plays you'll see, Roethslisberger turns nothing into a 65-yard touchdown to Holmes. It looked like Rosthlisberger might get sacked, then it looked he might run, then it looked like he might get sacked, then it looked like he might throw it away, then he floated it toward Holmes, who broke to the ball and spun Fabian Washington into a heap. Then Holmes cut across the field and dove into the end zone. Reed's kick made it 13-0. This game might be over.
10:58 (running): Big play by Flacco to get the ball to Ray Rice, who turns it into a 22-yard gain. Their is some life in Baltimore's offense.
9:42 (running): Another big play by Flacco, hitting Mason on a crossing route on third-and-9 for a first down.
8:05: Another third down coming up for Flacco and the Ravens, but potentially devastating news for the Steelers. James Harrison is down and writhing. After Harrison is helped off, Andre Frazier replaces him.
7:43: Flacco gets sacked on third down by Aaron Smith, and Frazier is right there, too.
6:10 (running) The Steelers appear content to run the ball and the clock. They run twice after getting pinned deep on a punt, then take a time out.
Ward is wearing a cloak and standing in the time out huddle. Doesn't look promising for him to return.
5:31 (running): Washington moves the chains with a nice catch of a low throw by Roethlisberger on third-and-6. Harbaugh is challenging. Press box announcement says Ward's return is now doubtful. Replays appear to show Washington caught the ball and cradled it between his thighs without letting it touch the ground. Washington is being looked at by trainers on the sideline. Replay upholds the catch. The Ravens lose their second timeout and their second challenge. They can't challenge again.
4:23: Chris Keomoeatu gets flagged for a personal foul on a carry for no gain by Parker. That backs the Steelers up 14 yards to their 14 on third down.
3:57: Moore runs out of bounds after a moderate gain, and it looks like Mike Tomlin is fine with playing for field position for the rest of the half.
3:37: The Ravens desperately needed a big play and got it from Leonhard, who returns Mitch Berger's punt 45 yards to the Steelers 17. Berger makes a nice play to save a touchdown, even punching the ball out. Punt coverage hasn't been a serious concern for the Steelers, but this is the break Baltimore needed.
2:44: Another big break for the Ravens, who get an interference call against Bryant McFadden on a high, third-down pass from Flacco intended for Mason. First-and-goal at the 2. Replays suggest it's a questionable call, at best.
Frank Walker, who replaced Rolle, is shown by network cameras being helped to the locker room.
2:40: McGahee high-steps into the end zone over the left side for a touchdown. And we have a ballgame. Chants of "Bull-(expletive)" rain down from the Heinz Field crowd.
2:31: The Ravens are getting pressure now. Roethlisberger is forced to heave an incomplete pass with Pryce bearing down.
2:01: After a six-yard completion to Sweed, Roethlisberger had his third-down pass swatted down by blitzing corner Corey Ivy. The Ravens get the ball back on a punt with a chance to further cut into the Steelers lead.
1:14: Big defensive stand by the Steelers to force a punt, with Tyrone Carter getting pressure on Flacco on a third-down blitz. Holmes gets another big return, cutting across the field for 25 yards at midfield.
:53: Sweed blows past Ivy and drops a certain touchdown pass on a perfect throw. Sweed stays down with an injury, which costs the Steelers a timeout. You can almost hear Tomlin muttering under his breath, "You'd better be hurt, rookie."
:45: Roethlisberger throws behind Holmes on a slant route on third down. If he catches it, it might be a touchdown. Punt, and a big turn for the Steelers with Edgar Jones getting called for roughing the kicker on the softest call in the history of roughing the punter calls. Steelers keep it with 34 seconds left.
:23: Miller makes a first-down catch and gets out of bounds, but almost nobody notices because Sweed has just laid out Ivy with a huge block behind Miller. Maybe Sweed has a future on the O-line. Flying pancake.
:00: In a call that should bring some interesting questions after the game, Tomlin elects to have Roethlisberger throw underneath to Mewelde Moore for a nine-yard gain with 16 seconds left. But the Steelers are out of time outs and Moore is tackled in the middle of the field. The Steelers rush to the line but can't get the snap off to kill the clock before the half runs out. It would have been about a 38-yard-field goal attempt by Reed. Sweed's injury (?) cost the Steelers a time out they could have used right there.
That's the half, and if I'm the Ravens I'm feeling pretty good right now. Baltimore gets the ball to start the third quarter.
