Perch in the pan

Little says summer to outdoorspeople on Lake Erie more than yellow perch. And if you want a piece of prime summer angling, now's the time to go.

Times-News staff writer Mike Copper's story on the fortunes of the area's anglers and charters should turn lots of heads. "The fishing is so good right now that I've had to turn people away," John Nekoloff, captain for Edward John Perch Charters, told Copper. "I sold out all of last week, it's been so phenomenal. I can't remember so many days this early in the season where we've consistently hit our limit."

Nekoloff said that, since May 9, his charter clients have caught more than 14,000 yellow perch.

That's quite a perch fry.
