Pennsylvania fall trout stockings

Northwestern Pennsylvania inland streams scheduled for fall trout stockings could benefit from rain that's in the forecast all week.

Oil Creek's gauge height, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, is just 1.68 feet Monday. Discharge is 47 cubic feet per second.

What's that mean to you? Oil Creek is woefully low and clear. Its Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only sections at Drake Well and Petroleum Center are scheduled to be stocked Thursday, along with Little Sandy Creek's Catch & Release Fly Fishing Only section.

Caldwell Creek (Warren County) has a CRFFO run scheduled to be stocked Wednesday. Woodcock Creek in Crawford County also will get a Wednesday stocking.

In Mercer County, the Cool Spring Creek DHALO area is due for stocking Wednesday, the same day the Shenango River will be stocked.

The East Hickory Creek DHALO area in Forest County will be stocked Oct. 7, along with Salmon Creek. And Clarion County's Piney Creek DHALO section will be stocked Wednesday.

Check with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for a full state stocking schedule and any changes.
