Erie Times-News steelhead report for Nov. 10

Today's steelhead fishing report, from interviews with B.A.C. Bait & Tackle, 7490 W. Lake Road, 474-3992, and Poor Richard’s Bait & Tackle, 6821 W. Lake Road, 474-5623:

Weekend precipitation had little effect on Lake Erie tributaries, as they remained low and clear on Sunday. There are a lot of fish already in the creeks, and more precipitation -- including overnight snow -- will raise water levels and improve conditions considerably. There were many leaves in the creeks and fish were staging in the pools. Steelhead were active in the faster moving water on Elk Creek and Walnut Creek.

Duane Doroba, a fly-tier at B.A.C. Bait and Tackle, said the P-flash minnow pattern continues to work wonders and they have a tough time keeping them in stock. With low and clear creeks, anglers should try smaller presentations and more natural baits. Emerald shiners and single-egg bait are good choices for current conditions.
