20:00 -- Shane Owen starts the second period in goal for the Otters, despite allowing three goals on eight shots in the first.
17:27 -- The Otters played with fire in the opening minute, handing the OHL's second-best power play its fourth opportunity of the game 35 seconds into the period. As the power play wound down, the Knights burned them. Vladimir Roth's shot from the point deflected off Otters defenseman Tyler Hostetter's skate and past Owen for the Knights' second power-play goal and a 4-1 lead.
13:30 -- The Otters showed some signs of life, as Brian Shaw defended defense partner Brett Cook by throwing punches at London's Jared Knight (who hit Cook from behind) and then scuffling with Garett Hunter. By the way, Hunter received a game misconduct for being the third man in a fight. The Otters earned a power play, which quickly became a two-man advantage because of Matt Clarke's holding penalty.
11:55 -- The Otters failed miserably during that 5-on-3, however. After London's Justin Taylor blocked captain Zack Torquato's point shot, Torquato's lackadaisical effort to retrieve the puck at center ice allowed Taylor to skate past him, elude his clutches, grab the puck and score on a short-handed breakaway - the Knights' fifth goal on 11 shots.
Jiri Fischer, Detroit's director of player development, is in attendance tonight evaluating Torquato, a Red Wings' prospect. Think he was impressed by that effort?
6:14 -- On the bright side, rookie Greg McKegg scored in his first game back from winning gold at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. His third goal of the season, assisted by fellow rookie Anthony Luciani, moved the Otters within 5-2.
