... that Mother Nature always rains on my parade.
Rarely have I ever hosted or thrown a party at which there was not rainfall or other undesirable weather. We once had a party for my husband in late June in which it was about 30 degrees.
And, now, seem Mother Nature is out to get me again as the forecast is calling for SNOW for the Her Times 5K run/walk on Saturday.
I almost fell off the treadmill when I saw the 7-day forecast in the paper this morning. (Yes, I read the newspaper on the treadmill on days I walk).
Joke's on her though because I'd much prefer snow to rain for an event day.
And, yes, the race goes on snow, shine, sun or even pouring rain. The only thing that will stop most races is thunder and lightening.
This snow, however, could throw a wrench into some of the plans. I'm worried about having enough tents to cover all the things we'll need to cover - babysitting, registration, the DJ, the awards and the water. I'm worried that the babysitting tent will be too cold for the kids. I'm worried that no one will want to hang around and wait for the awards presentation. I'm worried that Presque Isle State Park will close the bathrooms before the weekend -- meaning I have to round up some porta-potties and a generator for the DJ in short order.
So much to worry about, so little time left to worry.
Today, my mission -- provided I can get my kids in the tub and out the door -- is to visit various Wal-Marts until I find enough frames for the 44 awards we are giving out. We've got various other race duties and shopping to do as well.
I now have 259 women pre-registered (and there are likely some applications sitting in my mailbox at work).
