The Erie Runners Club's 5K Snowflake Run was held on Saturday at Presque Isle. I couldn't make it, but they had a great turnout this year -- nearly 200 participants.
Word has it the course was a icy in places, but it didn't slow down any of these finishers.
Outdoor winter running takes a special kind of hardiness, but we Erie runners are up to the task.
I, for one, love running in winter (providing it's not icy or...worse...slushy). It may be the only thing I do like about winter. I guess I just like to run in the cooler weather -- I despise sweating through the summer months (I rarely run after sun-up from May to September).
Come winter, though, I can sleep in and go a little later and it's actually better because then it's warmer and lighter out. I also LOVE it when people drive by, bundled up and shake their heads at me as if I'm insane. Meanwhile, I have sweat trickling down my back.
Joke's on them.
