Mother's Day 5K

The ERC had a great turnout (nearly 300 finishers) for the 1st annual Mother's Day 5K on Sunday (formerly the Julie King 5K). Race director, Rick Godzwa and his gang of race volunteers did a great job -- if everything didn't go smoothly, you couldn't tell. Complete results can be found here.

Though I don't normally do the 5Ks, I signed up and did pretty well -- for me, for a 5K. I prefer the longer distance, I have more time to make up for lost ground -- in a 5K you have to hit it hard from the beginning and keep pushing hard the whole time.

After running looooooots of long, slower runs in the last few months, it was kind of fun to get out and run like hell for just a few miles.

It was also nice to start the final stretch to the marathon on a high note.
