If you're looking for something different, the Erie Runners Club is sponsoring a 6K race at the Lake Erie Speedway this Saturday.
Everything about this race is A-typical -- starting with the distance -- a 6K (3.73 miles).
What else is unusual? Plenty -- whether it's good or bad, is up to you.
The location -- Lake Erie Speedway -- hey, where better for a race than a race track, eh?
The course -- some of it is on dirt roads
Start time -- 3 p.m. -- I don't know of any races that start in the mid-afternoon
Kid's race -- there's a 1/2 mile kids race run on the oval track at 2:45 p.m.
Babysitting (in a manner of speaking) -- after running the kids race, kids can hang out in the LES "Fun Zone" while parents run
Post-race entertainment -- you get tickets for Saturday night's race at LES with your paid race registration (NASCAR Whelen late model and stock car feature events around 7 p.m. (the question is...do you go home & shower?)
The price --$20 for adults, $10 for children. At $60 for a family of four, that leaves the Cass family in the dust.
