I said I wasn't going to, but I did

... sign up to run the Knights of Columbus Fourth-of-July 10K on, well ... the 4th of July.

It's a love-hate thing with me and the K of C 10K.

What I love:
* It's NOT at Presque Isle State Park (seems ALL the races -- including my own Her Times 5K are at PISP).
* It's a 10K -- which means it's good enough to meet my mid-week run length of 5 miles or more
* It's good to race because...well, I'm awfully easy on myself when I run alone
* Beer at the finish line. Nothing like a beer buzz at 9:15 a.m. to get your 4th started right
* The K of C folks who organize it are nice and appreciative
* It's not usually a big race which means I stand a chance of placing

What I hate:
* It's always hazy, hot and humid
* The course has virtually no shade
* They take forever and a day to get results done

The bottom line? I have to run 5 miles on Wednesday anyway...may as well go do it with a bunch of friends -- even if it means sweating a river.

Interested in joining in the fun? The race starts at 8 a.m. and there is a 3 mile walk as well. Day-of-race registration starts at 7 a.m. and costs $18. Race starts (and ends) at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek.
