It's been said that whatever ERC president Dave Comi touches turns to gold. At times it seems that God is just on Dave's side -- a theory proven true once again on Sunday at the Hamot 10K when the rain held off just long enough to get all the races in. (For the record, if anyone deserves God in their corner, it's David -- a man who gives and gives and gives...on many levels).
There were 282 finishers in the 10K, 155 in the 5K run, 70 in the 5K walk and untold numbers of children who participated in the kid's 1/4 mile and the toddler trots.
Full race results can be found here.
I, personally, had an off-race (seem to having a lot of those lately). I have several excuses -- which of these will you buy? I ran 6 miles on Saturday and then for a 1/2 mile swim at the Y (the kids were out of town and I had to take advantage of my free time), I had too much to drink -- and too little to eat -- while listening to the Steelers game the night before the race (what a game!); and I'm still recovering from an injury. Those are my best attempts at explaining a less-than-stellar performance.
The best part of the Hamot 10K are the kids' races which are held after the adult races (though some might say that the post-race pastries donated by Sontheimer's Bakery are the best part!). Since I didn't have my kids (camping with Daddy), I was able to snap some pix.

Here's ERC president and all-around good-guy, David Comi giving the pre-race instructions.

Mayor Joe Sinnott was on-hand to distribute medals to all the toddler trot finishers.

The 6 and 7 year olds.

The 4 and 5 year olds.

The 2 and under group. Note David in the center holding the youngest Toddler Trot finisher -- Emma Lang -- 30 days old. Sweet baby Emma is the daughter of Jennifer and Jim Lang (the timing guy -- and web guy).

The 2 and under group in motion.
