GPS envy

Seems most of my running friends now have GPS devices strapped to their wrists and, though I tend to be slow to embrace new gadgets, I really, really want one.

Why? Mainly because it tells you exactly how many miles you've run (and you know how obsessed we runners are with our mileage). It can also keep your pace (though some say it's not always accurate) and the newest models can even record your route.

I'd likely buy a Garmin as they are the leading manufacturer of the GPS units, but it's hard to decide which one. Of course, price is a consideration -- you can pick up a basic model for $100 or so, or a more advanced, snazzy new model for twice that.

I'd love to hear opinions from anyone who has one -- post a comment, or email me directly at heather.cass@timesnews.com and I'll post it for you.
