Running on faith and guts

I was talking to a friend at the gym last night who marveled at those of us who run in the early morning. Inspired by a friend of hers who runs early in the AM, she said she got up one day & went out at 5 a.m., but it was pitch black.

"I just don't know how you do it. How can you see anything?" she asked me.

I said...."uh, you kind of get used to it and, well, I don't see much."

I thought of that this morning as I ran along -- trying to determine if the shiny spots on the road were black ice or just light from the moon.

Sans a full moon or a nice bright white snow (snow throws a LOT of light), at 5 a.m. in December, you pretty much run on faith and guts.
