Presque Isle Duathlon

Sunday was the annual Presque Isle Duathlon. Results here.

I've been doing the Du (the Presque Isle Duathlon) almost since it's inception. I run and my brother bikes -- it's a fun thing we can do together. (If you don't know..the Duathlon is a 5K run followed by a 13K bike, then another 5K run, but you can do it as a relay team..with one person biking & one running).

In past years, my 2nd 5K was always remarkably slower. It's hard to sit around for a half hour and then run again. But, this year...I turned in solid -- and very close -- times for both 5Ks and ran a pretty consistent 7:30 mile (which is good for me).

Despite having our best team time ever (Mixed Relay - team Kisiel-Cass), we finished 5th...which just speaks to the level of competition that showed up this year. There were 22 teams in the mixed relay -- used to be less than 10.

It's all good though...stiff competition just gives you a reason to work harder, grow stronger and get faster.
