There's a 5-mile run in beautiful, nearby Findley Lake, N.Y. this Saturday at 1 p.m. I've never done the race, but it would be something different and it benefits a good cause -- the Findley Lake Nature & Wildlife Center.

There aren't really any 5-mile races in the Erie area except the QUAD race. The old HarborFest race was a 5-mile course (and it was a hot and dusty one), but since that went the way of the HarborFest, there hasn't been another 5-miler to take it's place.

If you've never been to Findley Lake -- it's a quaint little town...nice shops to browse in and, uh, obviously, a lake to cool off in.
