Erie Runners rejoice! It looks like we'll soon be home to our OWN specialty running shop right here in Erie!

Just got this scoop from one of our reporters -- Achilles Running Shop (their closest location currently is in Meadville) will be opening an Erie location in the next 4-6 weeks.

They'll be located right at the park entrance to Presque Isle on Peninsula Ave. The owner told said they'll be signing lease this week and doing some light remodeling.

This is fantastic news for the local running community as Achilles has been a very active and willing participant/sponsor in the local racing scene and .....having a store with knowledgeable staff who actually KNOW what they're talking about when it comes to running gear -- well...awesome.

Plus...I'll bet you can now count on some organized group runs from the shop. They lead them at all their other stores, so we can assume Achilles would be interested in doing the same here...perhaps even a beginners group, a long run group, a kids group...

Ooohhh...Imagine the possibilities!

Hmmm....I wonder if I could fit a part-time job into my life. Damn...if only I didn't have to waste 8 hours a night sleeping!
