D-10 realignment benefits show in the results

Think District 10 realignment has not helped teams become competitive within their classifications?

Think again.

Since realignment took place beginning with the 2004-2005 school year, a District 10 team has won a PIAA championship in each of the three seasons (fall, winter and spring).

Here are the team champions since realignment began:

Fall 2004

Cochranton – girls Class A volleyball

Winter 2004-2005

Mercyhurst Prep – girls Class AAA basketball

Spring 2005

McDowell – girls Class AAA track and field

Fall 2005

Maplewood – girls Class AA volleyball

Winter 2005-2006

Franklin – boys Class AAA basketball

Reynolds – Class AA team wrestling

Spring 2006

Harbor Creek – Class AA softball

Fall 2006

General McLane – Class AAA football
