Villa Maria basketball hire imminent

Villa Maria will introduce its next boys basketball coach Thursday at 11:30 a.m. during a news conference on the West Eighth Street campus.

The new coach will be the Victors' fourth in just over a year.

Dave Sokolowski, who coached the Victors for the final nine games of the 2006-07 season, resigned in February. He had replaced first-year coach Howard Kubinski, who resigned in late January.

Kubinski succeeded Mark Majewski, who had a 135-119 record in 10 seasons at Villa. He resigned after the 2005-06 season.

The Victors finished 2006-07 with a 4-20 record and went winless in 14 Region 4 games.
