Erie Otters defenseman Josh Kidd received a two-game suspension for his game misconduct last weekend against Windsor. But the game misconduct didn’t lead to an automatic suspension, Ted Baker, OHL vice president, said Friday. Kidd’s fight with center Jordan Nolan, a former Otter, led to a review under the league’s aggressor penalty. Officials then levied a two-game suspension, which Kidd completes tonight.
Kidd’s incident didn’t fall under the league’s bullying penalty, which leads to a five-game suspension, Baker said. “He had an inappropriate reaction to a slash in and around the skate area,” Baker said of Kidd.
Meanwhile, left wing Michael Liambas received a two-game suspension, not a four-game penalty, from the league, Baker said. Sherry Bassin, Otters managing partner/general manager, originally said Liambas would miss four games for the two game misconducts against Sudbury on Oct. 12.
The initial game misconduct warranted an automatic two-game misconduct. The second game misconduct also led to a review under the aggressor penalty, Baker said. But after reviewing the incident, league officials didn’t issue further penalties. Liambas is eligible to play tonight in London.
