Peek'n Peak Classic not on Nationwide Tour schedule for 2008

The Peek'n Peak Classic golf tournament is not part of the 2008 schedule released today by the Nationwide Tour.

Officials at Peek'n Peak Resort and Spa in Findley Lake, N.Y., were not available to accept phone calls and did not immediately return messages this afternoon. A Nationwide Tour media representative likewise did not answer his phone or immediately return a message left for him.

The Peek'n Peak Classic has been played at the resort's Upper Course for the past six summers. Roland Thatcher won the $445,421 first prize during the 2007 event June 25-July 1.

The end-of-June schedule slot the tournament normally occupies has been supplanted by a new event, the $800,000 Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic in Clarksburg, Ontario, from June 23-29. There is no tournament on the schedule for June 30-July 6, also in the traditional schedule window for the Peek. The next week will be the debut of the $1 million Nationwide Tour Players Cup in Bridgeport, W.Va.

The schedule does indicate an undetermined tournament will be played Sept. 22-28, after tournaments in Utah, Idaho and Oregon.
