Highmark Quad Games ski race postponed

Sunday's 25th annual Highmark Quad Games cross-country ski race has been postponed because of poor conditions at the Peek'n Peak Resort and Conference Center's Upper Golf Course. The final leg of the Quad's silver anniversary season was rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m.

Quad director Craig Latimer announced the postponement Thursday. Latimer, on the advice of Peak general manager Brad Gravink, cited unsatisfactory conditions and this weekend's forecast as reasons for his decision.

Despite heavy snowstorms across the country, Sunday's National Weather Serivce forecast calls for temperaturs in the high 40s and possible rain.

Todd Shatynski (1 hour, 24 minutes, 23 seconds) and Nancy Herbst (1:39.31) are the overall leaders going into the Quad's final event.

Shatynski, the men's defending champion, leads Dan Pierce by two seconds. Herbst, a 10-time Quad titlist, leads Nicolina Pierce by more than two minutes.
