Mercyhurst College sophomore forward Meghan Agosta and junior center Valerie Chouiner should be healthier for the No. 7 Lakers' College Hockey America series against Niagara on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Both wingers played in a two-game home series against Wayne State last weekend, but Agosta was hobbled by a twisted right ankle and Chouinard was hampered by the flu.
Agosta, the nation's leading scorer with 59 points, performed at about 50 percent of her ability last weekend, Mercyhurst coach Michael Sisti said. She injured her ankle during a contact drill in practice Feb. 4. She was held to one assist in the Wayne State series.
"Meghan is getting better, but she still is nowhere near 100 percent,'' Sisti said. "Both have practiced all week.''
Sisti said Chouinard, the team's second-leading scorer with 40 points in 28 games, lost 12 pounds last week.
"Val is putting weight back on and getting her strength back,'' Sisit said. "She had no energy last weekend. That took so much out of her, it probably set her back a couple weeks, but she'll start gearing up.''
-- Atlantic Hockey Association officials handed out additional suspensions after reviewing film of a brawl in Rochester Institute of Technology's 4-1 home win over Canisius on Saturday.
The teams combined for 251 penalty minutes, and the third-period brawl initially resulted in 10 misconducts and six disqualifications, including each team's goaltender, plus 18 roughing penalties and five fighting penalties.
AHA Commissioner Robert DeGregorio Jr. on Thursday issued four additional suspensions to each team.
"Atlantic Hockey, the NCAA and the culture of college hockey will not allow or condone fighting,'' DeGregorio said in a written statement.
Canisius defeated RIT 5-4 Sunday in Buffalo.
