Today's sports schedule figures to be heavily impacted by the weather: The overnight temperature dipped to zero in some areas, and a forecast storm today threatens to drop 4 inches to 8 inches of snow on eastern Erie County and as much as 2 inches in the city of Erie.
A number of school districts have canceled classes today, which usually means extracurricular activities also will be put off. Known cancellations have been noted. Check with a particular school to be certain an event will be played.
School districts that already have canceled classes: Ashtabula City Area, Buckeye Local (Ohio), Cochranton, Conneaut (Pa.) Area, Cranberry Area, Crawford Central, Forest Area, Franklin Area, Jamestown (Pa.) Area, Kane Area, Lakeview, Oil City Area, Penncrest, Ripley Central and Titusville.
Other high schools that are closed include Calvary Baptist Christian Academy, French Creek Valley Christian School, and Venango Catholic High School.
