Scouting Mercyhurst: Mercyhurst, ranked No. 4 in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Division I polls, completed a six-game homestand last weekend with a pair of 8-1 wins over Vermont. ... The Lakers are riding an 11-game winning streak and have not lost since a 4-3 decision at Colgate on Oct. 31. ... Junior winger Meghan Agosta scored twice and added six assists in the two-game series against Vermont, increasing her team-leading scoring total to 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists). She has 92 career goals. ... Agosta was the College Hockey America offensive player of the week, sophomore defender Melissa Lacroix the CHA defensive player of the week and forward Jess Jones the conference freshman of the week. ... Agosta had a plus-7 rating in the Vermont series and became Mercyhurst’s career scoring leader with 171 points, one point more than senior winger Val Chouinard. ... Lacroix had four assists against Vermont and was a plus-6 in the series, while Jones had five points and a plus-7 rating in the series. ... Sophomore defender Cassea Schols practiced this week and is expected to play this weekend after injuring her shoulder in the first game of last weekend’s series against Vermont. She missed the second game of that series. ... Sophomore forward Jesse Scanzano, who is second on the team with 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists), collected her first collegiate hat trick in the opening game of the Vermont series, then added three assists in the second game. ... Junior forward/defender Johanna Malmstrom scored her first collegiate goal in the Vermont series. ... Mercyhurst is 6-4 on the road.

Scouting Connecticut: With a 3-0 win over then-No. 9 Boston University last weekend, the Huskies stretched their winning streak to eight games, propelling them into a No. 9 national ranking in this week’s USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Division I poll and a No. 10 rating in the USCHO.com poll. ... UConn had been among teams receiving votes in recent weeks. ... During their eight-game win streak, the Huskies have won four games over nationally ranked teams and have outscored their opponents 30-10. ... Senior goalie Brittany Wilson stopped 31 shots and recorded her third shutout this season in the win over Boston University. She is 10-3-1 with a 1.70 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. ... UConn has shut out four opponents. ... Junior forward Dominique Thibault leads the Huskies with 19 goals and 28 points. She was a member of the Canadian national women’s under-22 team that earned the silver medal in last week’s MLP Cup in Ravensburg, Germany. The Canadian team included Mercyhurst wingers Meghan Agosta, Vicki Bendus and Bailey Bram. ... Other top UConn scorers include junior forward Michelle Binning with 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists), junior forward Amy Hollstein with 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists) and junior defender Cristin Allen with 19 points (5 goals, 14 assists). ... UConn is 11-2-2 at home and 8-2-1 against non-conference opponents. ... UConn’s winning streak has come against the following opponents: Brown, 4-0; Wayne State, 5-4; Yale, 3-2; Boston College, 2-1; Harvard, 3-2; Vermont 7-0 and 3-1; and Boston University, 3-0.
