Feb. 14 and Feb. 16 will be the last best chances for Erie-area fans to see Erin Kerner perform for Quinnipiac's women's basketball team.
The Bobcats will play Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. at Robert Morris in Moon Township. On Feb. 16, Quinnipiac visits St. Francis for a 7 p.m. in Loretto, west of Altoona. Both teams are ahead of the Bobcats in a tight race for Northeast Conference playoff spots.
Kerner, a 5-foot 8-inch senior who played at Mercyhurst Prep, is a conference player of the year candidate for the Bobcats (13-9, 6-6). The point guard leads the team and is fourth in the conference in scoring (16.7 points per game), and tops Quinnipiac in field goals attempted (323) and free throws made (85) and attempted (105). Her .811 free-throw percentage is seventh in the conference, and she averages 1.68 steals per game, 13th-best in the NEC.
Kerner was named first-team all-conference as a junior and second-team all-NEC her first two seasons. She's the program's career scoring leader at the Division I level.
