Sports schedule for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009

The NFL season's over, but not the big-game excitement. If you need a sporting adrenaline shot, trying the Gannon University at Mercyhurst College basketball doubleheader tonight. The women play their PSAC West matchup at 5:30 p.m. at Mercyhurst Athletic Center, the men at 7:30. Gannon is ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II.

Or try Indiana (Pa.) at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (5:30/7:30) in a PSAC doubleheader at McComb Fieldhouse, or Hilbert at Penn State Behrend (6/8) at the Junker Center.

Two other basketball highlights: Strong Vincent and McDowell meet in an important Region 7 basketball game at 7:30 p.m. at Paul Goll Gymnasium, and the Erie BayHawks try to tun their winning streak to three games when they play host to the Idaho Stampede at 7 p.m. at Tullio Arena.
