Getting Closer

I heard a lot this past week about how the British Open "survived" without Tiger Woods. It was a good tournament and The Open Championship was around before Tiger and will be around long after Tiger is gone. But c'mon !!!! Imagine how much better it would have been had Tiger been able to play and play well this year. Add him to the mix of Greg Norman trying to win at age 53 and Padraig Harrington trying to defend the title and it would have ten times more interesting than it was. Great storylines this year and a good tournament but without Tiger in the mix, it is just not quite the same.
We'll be heading to NFL training camps soon as the Browns, Bills and Steelers all opened camp this week and the season is just around the corner. Certianly an exciting time of the year but also a little sad. For me, it means the summer is almost over and soon fall will be upon us. While autumn is a great time of year, I love the summer and hot weather. So the start of training camp brings with it a reminder that we are not far away from the start of school and cooler weather.
Finally, congrats to the Erie Lions Club for staging yet another Save-an-Eye all star football classic. It is a huge undertaking for guys like Tyco Swick and Doug White but it always turns out well and for a good cause. Sure, it may change a bit in future years, but the game itself is one of the most anticipated of the year.
