A WET JULY, SO FAR

After a couple of days with scattered downpours, the rain guages have been really filling up. Not including the rain that fell since midnight, we are almost 2.5 inches above average for rainfall this month.

Keep in mind that this is at the National Weather Service reporting station at Erie International Airport. Some of the heaviest rains overnight fell a few miles inland. Just overnight, Bernie Feltz in McKean picked up 5.15 inches of rain in his back yard (this was in two separate rain guages)! I would agree with this number given the flooding reported in McKean.

According to Storm Track 4D's Rain Vision Program (radar estimated rainfall), Bernie was not the only one to get soaked. The west end of Warren County was hit pretty hard as well, with some spots seeing five inches of rain.

Once the official numbers come in from last night's rainfall, we will pass them along to you.
