TROPICAL DEPRESSION 2 IS BORN

TropDep2070308.gif

We now have the second tropical depression of the season in the Atlantic. This depression has intensified off the Cape Verde islands, and is expected to develop even further into a tropical storm. If this does happen, it will be Tropical Storm Bertha.

Since Joey Stevens, Cheryl Scott, and I provide specialized forecasts for the Caribbean and Central America via satellite, we are continually monitoring the situation in that area. Right now, we are expecting this storm to remain out to sea, and not really bother any interests in the Caribbean.

Anyway, I think we are looking at the beginning of Bertha, as we are still early in the Tropical Weather Season.
