A TALE OF TWO AUGUSTS

Now that we are halfway through August, I thought I would compare the first 15 days of August 2008 with the first 15 from 2007. What a difference a year makes....

In 2007, the high temperature for the day rose to 80 or higher 8 times. This year we were only able to do it four! Last year, the daily high temperature was never below 75. This year, it happened three times! The low temperature dropped to 56 once during the first 15 days. This year it happened twice.

So, if you think this August has seemed rather cool compared to last year, you are right!

Precipitation for the first 15 days of August has been pretty close. We had 2.05 inches of rain during this time period last year, and so far 2.33 for this August. This year and last year each had 6 days with recorded rainfall for the beginning half of the month.
