WHY SHOULD WE WATCH "FAY"?

FAY_SATELLITE_full.JPG

The Storm Team is watching Tropical Storm Fay, as this particular storm could have an impact on our area this weekend.

Fay has been sustaining tropical storm status since the weekend, but as this storm passes into the warm waters between Cuba and Florida, it could grow to be a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. After it makes landfall, it will then quickly revert back to a depression, and this could mean a soggy weekend for us!

The general track of "Fay" is to move toward the Great Lakes. From the forecast cone, you can see that the Erie area could be dealing with the leftovers from this potential hurricane.

When remnants of tropical weather move into our region, we typically see periods of heavy rain with isolated storms that have the potential to become severe. Hopefully this one will miss us, but the early indication is saying something different.
