This morning, the WSEE Live Eye caught a funnel cloud forming over Lake Erie. A waterspout was trying to form, but was only able to form the funnel. To be a "full blown" waterspout, it would have had to touch the surface of the Lake. That did not appear to happen.
Waterspouts can occur on Lake Erie when a cooler airmass moves over the warmer lake waters. When the surrounding winds are just right, you can see these funnels develop. While not the case today, funnel clouds can travel inland, however they deteriorate rather quickly.
