Walt Federowicz, the Villa Maria girls soccer coach, had a unique experience on Wednesday. He was principal for a day.
At Villa’s Magical Auction in February, Federowicz was the successful bidder to become principal. His duties at the school began at 8:10 a.m. and ended at 2:50 p.m. Almost magically, Federowicz became a soccer coach again at 2:51 p.m.
Rivals.com thinks highly of the Pittsburgh Central Catholic football team. So highly, in fact, that the Vikings are No. 9 in the Rivals.com Fab 50.
Central Catholic was 10-2 last year, including a 21-7 home win over Cathedral Prep during the second week of the season. The Vikings, who were upset by Penn Hills 14-6 in the WPIAL semifinals, return 14 starters from that team. Two of the best are TE/DE Quintin Williams, the NO. 26 prospect in the Rivals.com Pennsylvania ratings, and QB Tino Sunseri, who is a Louisville recruit.
An interesting note is the listing of Central Catholic’s toughest test of the regular season – Sept. 7 at Prep.
Here are the Erie Times-News preseason high school football ranking for the 2007 season.
Since there are so few Class AAAA and Class AAA schools, and some of them play against each other in Region 6 during the season, those two classifications are combined.
