McDowell to play as football independent in 2008

McDowell High School administrators today said the school's football team will play an independent schedule in 2008.

The Trojans, now the only Class AAAA football team in District 10, will open the season against Cathedral Prep. Over the next eight weeks McDowell will play teams from the WPIAL (District 7) as exhibition games.

McDowell will then be the District 10 Class AAAA representative in the PIAA playoffs and join a group of other independent teams in the interdistrict playoffs.

For details, read Saturday's Erie Times-News.
