It’s quite a race in Region 3 baseball

Who’s going to win the District 10 Region 3 baseball title?
Who knows?
Going into Tuesday’s games, there was still a clump of teams with region title aspirations. Unlike many other baseball and softball regions, no team has emerged as a clear favorite.
Consider this: Villa Maria entered Monday’s game leading Region 3 with a 3-1 record. When Mercyhurst Prep rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and pulled out a 5-4 win Monday, Villa Maria (3-2) dropped to fifth.
Iroquois and North East both won Monday to move into a first-place tie at 5-2. Right behind them, Mercyhurst Prep and Girard are tied for third at 4-2. Villa is fifth followed by Fort LeBoeuf and Northwestern, who are in a sixth-place tie at 4-3.
Each of those teams is in the title hunt … and each could finish seventh. It’s that close.
Others, such as Eisenhower and Fairview, are right behind.
Stay tuned.
