The Trojans' baseball team sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning Friday night against rival Cathedral Prep. The first six all reached and all scored, which highlighted their 10-3 victory at Jerry Uht Park.
More than 1,100 saw the first of three regular-season meetings between the rivals. McDowell improved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 6, while Prep dropped to 7-3 and 1-1.
Matt Luthringer and Ryan Skellie each doubled and had two hits off Ramblers' pitching. Skellie drove also drove in two runs and scored twice.
Tyler DeCrapio settled down after Prep scored twice in the first inning and pitched a complete game.
Prep, the defending District 10 Class AAAA champions, was led by Bryan Colish and Kyle Laughner. Colish had two of the Ramblers' six hits and Laughner had two RBIs.
The teams will meet at McDowell on April 30 and return to Jerry Uht Park on May 14.
