First Class AA semifinal set at Pennbriar

Grove City's Matt Kiser was the first seeded Class AA player who advanced to the semifinals of Saturday's District 10 boys singles tennis tournament. The fifth-seeded Kiser beat Ryan Zippie of Hickory 8-1 in the quarterfinals at the Pennbriar Athletic Club.

Ryan Zippie gained notice early in the day when he upset top-seeded Thomas Shuttleworth of Fairview 8-5 in the second round.

Kiser was scheduled to play one of Shuttleworth's teammates in the best-of-three semifinals. Fairview's Jake Batchelor advanced with an 8-5 victory over Grove City's Josiah Welker.
