McDowell's Kwiatkowski sets D-10 AAA record

McDowell’s Dan Kwiatkowski set a District 10 Class AAA record in the shot put Thursday, launching a throw of 64 feet, 8 inches in the D-10 championships at Harbor Creek’s Paul Weitz Stadium.
That broke the record of 59-1 set by Fort LeBoeuf’s Greg Deemer in 1985.
The mark also broke Kwiatkowski’s own school record of 63-½. He won the state indoor title in the shot put earlier this year.
Kwiatkowski won the event Thursday by more than 10 feet.
Interestingly, Kwiatkowski topped the D-10 AAA record on five of his six throws Thursday. His first effort traveled 60-11 and his second measured 60-9½ before he turned in the record throw on his third attempt. None of his final three throws topped 60 feet.
