Sargent won't compete in AA meet

Fairview's Tyler Sargent, one of the premier all-around athletes in District 10, will not compete in today's District 10 Class AA track and field championships because of a hamstring injury.
Sargent, who will play football next fall at New Hampshire, would have been a title contender in the long jump. He also would have anchored the 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay.
The injury occurred last month, and Sargent missed a couple of weeks before returning for the Erie County Classic last week.
It remains to be seen how his absence will affect Fairview's hopes for a D-10 team title. The Fairview boys went 8-0 in the Region 4 season, won the County Classic title and are considered top D-10 contenders.
