Scouting Sharon: The Tigers maintained their unbeaten ways with Monday’s 7-2 victory over Bishop Canevin in the AA first round. Sharon totaled 14 hits, which included three apiece for Mike Tomko and Dustin Norcross. Gary Revale finished with two hits and two RBIs. … Sharon’s early start time was based on its graduation ceremony this evening.
Scouting Seton-LaSalle: The Rebels were 18-0 before a 4-2 loss to Bishop Canevin in the WPIAL semifinals. Seton-LaSalle still qualified for the AA state playoffs, where it eliminated defending state champion Bald Eagle Area 4-2 in Monday’s first round. Chris Salimbene and David Cortese each had two hits in the victory. … Seton-LaSalle routed Sharon 15-3 in the first round of the 2007 tournament.

Scouting Hickory: The Hornets return to the Rock, where they stayed alive with Monday’s 6-2 victory over Blackhawk. Hickory batted around in the bottom of the sixth inning, which included David Schafer’s grand slam. Schafer also had a double and joined David Saluga with two hits. … The Hornets have a chance to avenge their 8-6 loss to Trinity in the first round of last season’s tournament.
Scouting Trinity: The Hillers eliminated Punxsutawney, the 2007 state champion, 1-0 in Monday’s AAA first round. Craig Gnagey drove in the lone run on an RBI groundout in the top of the sixth inning. Pitcher Alex Frey was in and out of trouble the whole game but made the run hold up for three-hit shutout. … Trinity is a veteran team, with only two sophomores on its roster.
