Blue Devils player changes number to honor father

Cambridge Springs sophomore Dan Lineberry was listed as No. 34 in the game program for Friday night's season opener vs. Linesville. That roster, though, was printed before he decided to pay homage to his father.

Dan Lineberry emerged onto Baird Memorial Field in a home blue No. 35 jersey. Don Lineberry wore that number when he played for the Blue Devils in the late 1980s.

Don Lineberry was a member of the 1988 Cambridge Springs team that reached the inaugural PIAA Class A championship game. He watched his son play in a similar jersey.

Dan Lineberry saw limited action in Linesville's 44-7 victory over the Blue Devils. His biggest play was a 21-yared kickoff return after the Lions' final touchdown.
