This is the last week for high school football scrimmages before the PIAA regular season begins next week.
Scrimmages begin this week with a Thursday matchup featuring Oil City at Northwestern. A slew of games will be played Friday, followed by five more games Saturday.
The most intriguing of those scrimmages will take place at McDowell’s Gus Anderson Field on Friday at 5 p.m. Both General McLane and Bradford will visit McDowell.
McDowell, of course, is the only remaining Class AAAA team in District 10. The Trojans feature bruising running back A.J. Fenton.
General McLane, just two years removed from a PIAA Class AAA title, has dropped to AA this year. The Lancers are led by slick option quarterback Kellen O’Neill.
Bradford, meanwhile, is a former District 9 team that will play in District 10’s Region 6 this year.
It should be interesting to watch.
