Weather suits Fairview girls soccer team

The calendar said late August, but the weather suggested late October when the Fairview girls soccer team practiced Thursday. That was fine with the Tigers, who still expect to be playing when Halloween rolls around.

A heavy drizzle and whipping winds welcomed the Tigers and coach Lia Petersen for their afternoon workout. Fairview, with nine seniors on its roster, opens its 2008 season Saturday against Slippery Rock.

The first kick at Keck Stadium will be at 11 a.m.
