'Barnum and Bailey' play highlight of North East's win

New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree will always be known for his one-handed catch off his helmet that set up the Giants' touchdown that beat New England in last season's Super Bowl.

Jim Bailey's circus reception Thursday wasn't quite on that level, but it will be remembered for some time in North East.

Jim Bailey caught a deflected pass from his brother Curtis early in the fourth quarter of the Grapepickers' Region 4 game at Northwestern. A Wildcats' defender got a hand on the ball, but Jim Bailey still hauled in the pass as he fell to the ground.

"I told him, 'You saved my butt,'" Curtis Bailey said of Jim's catch. "I gave him a little hug after that one."

The Baileys' 41-yard play set up the touchdown that gave North East the lead at 20-13. The 'Pickers went on to win a deceptive 33-13 final at Rogers Field.

North East improved to 3-1 and 3-0 in the region, while the Wildcats dropped to 1-3 and 0-3.
