Varsity features people behind stadium names

This week's Varsity, which is published in today's Erie Times-News, features a cover story on the people after whom District 10 football fields are named.

Some might wonder why we didn't mention Fred Biletnikoff Field. Here's why: When we decided to do the story, we focused on D-10 fields and stadiums where high school football teams play their games. Central Tech practices at Biletnikoff Field but plays its home games at Veterans Stadium. As a result, we did not use Biletnikoff Field. If we had, we also would have had to track down every other practice field in D-10.

Some of the fields mentioned are multi-use facilities where soccer and track and field events also take place. However, the unifying theme to the Varsity feature is that all of the D-10 teams play football games at the fields. Click here to read the story.
