Villa's McBride gaining Division I court attention

Villa Maria basketball player Kayla McBride made an unofficial visit to Notre Dame last week. It's not the first time the Victors junior has received interest from a Division I program.

Nor, according to Villa assistant coach Doug Chuzie, will it be the last.

Chuzie said McBride has attracted the attention of major powers ranging from Connecticut to Stanford. She's ranked in ESPNU's list of the top 50 scholastic junior players.

McBride averaged 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals for the Victors, who finished the 2007-08 season with a 24-5 record. She was a third team selection for Class AA all-state honors.
