The Cathedral Prep, McDowell and North East football programs are featured in article published Wednesday on ESPN.com's high school Web page ESPNRISE.com.
The article, titled "Supper Club, Courage Bowl and Old Shoes", explores traditions among Pennsylvania high school football programs.
One of the featured items is the Cathedral Prep-McDowell rivalry. Author Gordie Jones notes how the often bitter rivalry took a turn for the positive this year with when the schools named the game the "Courage Bowl" and used it as a cancer-research fundraiser.
The article also discusses the best nicknames in the state. The North East Grapepickers were listed as the fourth runner-up. Jones wrote: "The school is near Lake Erie, where vineyards abound. (And just for good measure, the school's mascot dresses up in a Fruit of the Loom-type costume.)"
